Mikhael Balachov

Principal, Chief Executive Officer

Mikhael Balachov is the Chief Executive Officer of Team Hewins, where he leads the firm’s vision and works closely with the team to deliver a thoughtful, high-touch client experience.

His path at Team Hewins has been anything but traditional. Mikhael joined the firm early in his career (after first getting a taste of the business as a high school intern) and has grown alongside it, taking on roles across client service, operations, and leadership. That full-spectrum experience gives him a unique perspective on how all the pieces come together to serve clients well.

Before becoming CEO, Mikhael led the firm’s operations, focusing on improving systems, streamlining processes, and leveraging technology to better support both clients and the team. Much of the infrastructure that powers Team Hewins today was shaped during that time.

Today, Mikhael is focused on building a modern wealth management firm that feels different: more human, more connected, and more aligned with what clients actually need. He is especially passionate about creating a hospitality-driven client experience, one where clients feel truly known, cared for, and confident, and where Team Hewins becomes their first call when making important financial and life decisions.

Mikhael is equally committed to building a culture where people do their best work, with clear roles, strong ownership, and a shared commitment to excellence.

He graduated from the University of California, Davis with a B.A. in Economics and B.S. in Biological Sciences and has spent his entire career in wealth management. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and French Bulldog Pascal, travelling, staying active, live music, and continuing to learn, both personally and professionally.
