Ka-Tye Koo

Principal, Chief Operating Officer

As COO, Ka-Tye oversees the critical support functions of the firm and is a member of the Leadership Team. 

In his more than 12 years with Team Hewins and its predecessor firm, Hewins Financial, Ka-Tye has contributed across almost every area of the firm.  He learned the ropes in client service, then moved to operations where he oversaw trading, reporting and billing, including being a key part of successful transition/conversion teams along the way.   

In his most recent position as Director of Operations & Advisor Development, Ka-Tye added advisor training and mentoring to his responsibilities in addition to overseeing the operations and client service teams.  He has a special interest in the development of our team, encouraging them to seek growth opportunities at every turn.   

Ka-Tye Koo embodies the concept of service—to our clients and his teammates.  Equally comfortable building a spreadsheet or interacting with clients, he brings his broad knowledge of our firm and industry to bear in his role as COO, always seeking to improve the experience our clients have with us and working directly on a number of client relationships.   

Ka-Tye is an inductee of Phi Beta Kappa and graduated from the University of California, Davis with a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Communications. He enjoys baking sourdough bread and can often be found exploring local cafes in search of good coffee.
