Q: How do I schedule an appointment?

Q: What should I expect during my first meeting with a financial advisor?

A: The call is a brief introductory conversation, known as the “Big Decision Clarity” session, and is intended to help us understand your needs and goals and determine whether we’re a good fit for each other. This call allows us to discuss your financial objectives and answer any preliminary questions you may have before scheduling a more detailed meeting. 

Q: What happens if we decide that we are not a good fit after the Big Decision Clarity session?

A: If we determine that we’re not the best fit for your needs, we’ll provide recommendations or resources to help you find the right financial advisor. Our goal is to provide you with the right support to reach your financial goals, even if it means referring you to someone else.

Q: How much does it cost to work with a Team Hewins CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional? And what does that include?

A: As fee-only financial advisors, our fees are based on the market value of Assets Under Management, typically referred to as AUM. We are not brokers and do not make any commissions from the investments recommended. We are always aligned with your best interests.

Our fee includes financial planning, investment management, coordination with your other professionals, and many other services. While investments are a big part of what we do, we look at your entire financial picture, including your goals and aspirations, to help you maintain and enhance your financial wellbeing. Our tiered fee schedule:  

  • First $2 million: 1% annually 
  • Next $3 million: 0.85% annually 
  • Next $5 million:  0.40% annually 
  • Above $10 million:  0.30% annually

For example, a $3 million portfolio would be charged 1% on the first $2 million and 0.85% on the next million, which translates into a $28,500 annual fee (which would be charged quarterly at $7,125). 

Q: What type of clients do you work with?

A: At Team Hewins, we support clients through every stage of life. We take pride in getting to know our clients personally and guiding them toward financial wellbeing. Our clients come from various backgrounds, and they often share similar needs and values. You may be someone we typically work with if:  

  • Your financial situation has become more complex over time with children, college planning, home purchases, IPOs, divorce, inheritance, or sudden windfalls. 
  • You are busy and prefer to delegate the stress and details of financial management to a trusted advisor who prioritizes your best interests. 
  • You value the peace of mind that comes with having a reliable partner to help organize your financial life. 

We are especially proud that many of our clients are women. Whether they are part of a couple, single, or recently divorced, we help women feel more confident and informed about their finances. Additionally, many of our advisors are women, providing relatable and empathetic support.  

Q: Do you have a minimum client size?

A: Our average clients typically have $1 million or more in investable assets. We also work with professionals who are on track to reach that soon. If you are growing your wealth and have at least $250,000 to invest, we offer personalized services with a minimum annual fee of $2,500. We’re here to support your financial success now and into the future.

Q: Can I hire you for planning services only and not investments?

A: We are guides to financial wellbeing. We do not do project-based work or one-off financial plans. We work with clients who are looking for a long-term financial partner and for the peace of mind that comes with having someone in your corner. Creating a personalized and holistic financial plan is one of the best things you can do to meet your financial goals, and the work doesn’t end there. You will see the most success when you have someone to execute your plan, keep you on track, advise when new scenarios arise, and adjust your plan as your life and goals change.  

Q: What is the process for signing up?

A: Start by completing the form on our website. We’ll schedule a brief introductory call to determine whether we’re a good fit for each other and connect you with the right advisor. Next, we’ll meet to learn about you, your goals, and how we can work together. If it’s a match, we can begin immediately. Once you sign on, we’ll start building your financial plan and we’ll guide you through every step of the process. 

Q: Can I meet with my financial advisor remotely?

A: We are happy to meet with clients on their terms—in our offices or virtually.  We have offices in the San Francisco Bay Area (Foster City) and South Florida (Miami and Boca Raton).
